    Wish you all a very happy new year.     The next version of Your Tanpura, "Your Tanpura v5" has been released. It is a fully customizable tanpura with 4 strings and fine tuning options. Has 4 preset string variations viz., Sa Pa, Sa Ma, Sa Ni and Sa SA. Both setup file and zip file are available for download. Tanpura Timeline

  • We started using the original Tanpura for our singing when it was invented by the great musicians centuries ago. It is an indispensable musical instrument for Carnatic Music till date.

  • Then we slowly switched to the "Shruthi Petti" which was another marvelous invention by our ancestors. By employing the principles of physics, they managed to find a brilliant substitute for the heavy Tanpura.

  • Then came the Electronic Tanpura in 1970s. This electronic wonder gave the musicians a relief from constantly playing the Tanpura and helped them to concentrate more on their vocal expertise. Also it eradicated the discrepancies that prevailed about the exact frequency, to a greater extent by employing the principles of electronics and produced 99% perfect Tanpura sounds for different pitches.

  • Now, this software is just an improvement from what all these people have done so far. You just need a computer to play your Tanpura. You can have your Tanpura wherever you are if you have a computer with you. Considering the fact that computers are available in any part of the world these days, it should not be a problem for you to have a Tanpura for you.  That is why, this software has been named as Your Tanpura.
